1. What does TRPA stand for?

Trois-Rivières Port Authority (TRPA) created in May 1st, 1999, under Canada Marine Act.

The TRPA does everything possible to guarantee the satisfaction of its clients and partners and to be the best port of reference on the St.Lawrence for non-containerized cargo.

It receives no public funding, and finances all its own projects.
The Port welcomes about 250 ships each year in all seasons for approximate total volume of 2.5 million tonnes of cargo.

It boasts modern terminals for handling a variety of products including grain, alumina, pulp and paper, aluminum and steel.

The Port of Trois-Rivières is strategically located between Montréal and Québec, on the north shore of the St.Lawrence River. The Port offers an extensive range of facilities and services to marine industries. Because of its strategic location and excellent facilities, the Port plays an important role in national and international shipping activities.

8. What is the current water level at the port of Trois-Rivières?

What is the Chart Datum?
The Canadian Hydrographic Chart Datum (CHCD) is the lowest tide that can be expected in a given locality considering gravitational effects alone. Strong or persistent winds and storm surges may sometimes further reduce sea level.

9. Are there tides in Trois-Rivières?

A maximum tide of 0.31 meters (12 inches) ending at the Laviolette Bridge is observed. Its height increased progressively from 0.31 meters (one foot) in Trois-Rivières to an average of 6 meters (19.5 feet) in Québec City.

10. What is the channel depth?

The minimum depth is 11.3 meters (36.75 feet).

Contrary to popular belief, the longshoremen and operators who work in the port are not employees of the Trois-Rivières Port Authority. They are employed by the Maritime Employers Association (MEA) whose members are shipping lines and stevedoring companies or are directly employed by our clients or partners.

13. How can I ship goods or belongings through the port of Trois-Rivières?
