Word from the President
With the implementation of On Course for 2020, the Port of Trois-Rivières’ plan to modernize and develop its infrastructures, the last few years have marked an historical turning point for the port, which fully assumes its urbanity in a city that embraces the port dimension of its personality.
The successes achieved are the result of the hard work of all stakeholders in the port community, regional community and various levels of government. The port’s capacity and productivity have increased significantly and the port's financial position has strengthened. More importantly, the port is more integrated than ever into his community, and these closer ties carry important benefits that we are only beginning to measure.
However, we are witnessing more than just physical changes to the facilities: our notion of the role of the Port of Trois-Rivières has been revolutionized. A revolution, both in its logistic function, as a link in the transportation chain, and as an economic engine and a vector for social and environmental changes. Although it is not as easy to perceive, this transformation is just as important as the changes that have been made to the facilities to achieve the ambitious objectives that we collectively set ourselves with On Course for 2020. There is still a lot of work to do to get there. The success to date of Phase I inspires us to persevere and redouble our effort to achieve our goal.
